Is it one week after her menstruation or "bleeding"? Why and why not? Medical-based answers ONLY. I do not need opinions and anecdotes.

There are a few days after the period, and a few days right before the period (as well as the period itself, but can I just say..*ick*..).

http://www.fwhc.org/birth-control/fam.htm

has an in-depth explanation of the female fertility cycle.

Everybody else here is right, though. There is no guaranteed *safe* time--the reason there are so many anecdotes and opinions is that *life happens*...If you don't want to knock a girl up, keep it zipped. You can see just from this site that there are many different cycle lengths. I don't know too many girls who are so self-aware that they know for sure themselves if they're on a 21, 28, or 36 day cycle. And if she doesn't know, YOU sure as heck don't.

I appreciate your concern for asking--I think you're trying to be responsible. That's a good first step. The next step is to make sure that there are always *two* forms of birth control (like a condom and the pill, not 'timing' and 'the pull out method'). The next step is to make sure that BOTH of you are prepared for the consequences just in case the second step fails, because *NOTHING* is failsafe except abstinence.

Good luck.

There is about 3 days after shes done that are considered "safe" but thats not even 100%. The only 100% way to not get a girl pregnant is to abstain. I got pregnant while using a condom, my sister got pregant twice (seprate times) while on the pill. Pulling out doesnt even work because theres sperm in the pre-ejaculate.

It is never 100% guaranteed that a woman is safe at a certain point in her cycle because sperm can live for up to 5 days inside a woman's body, so even if she's not ovulating at the moment of ejaculation, she could be ovulating in a few days.

You have a great chance of getting her pregnant if you have sex a week after her period. So I wouldnt do that If I were you. Just go to an ovulation site online and they will tell you the best time to get a girl pregnant or not...BUT its still not guaranteed EVER.

If the girl is on a 28 day cycle it is unsafe to have unprotected sex the following 2 weeks after her period.

But you are risking it all the time, because not all women have regular cycles.
