Some people will always say "what can I do, I'm only one person":
or the relativistic "5 cents an hour is big bucks for those people"
etc. etc.
You point out a huge problem. There are answers, but unfortunately most of them are political. As to who get the profits, look to the name brand manufactures who reap huge profits or the large box stores who do the same. Many name brand companies don't even make any of their clothing anymore. They are simply 'brand' companies who contract work out and exist merely to merchandise an idea.
Both the consumer in the developed world and the poor worker in the developing world are exploited. The corporate bosses squeeze bucks from both the supply and demand sides.
As to solutions, there are anti-sweat shop organizations that certify products to be produced in non-exploitative conditions. There is also fair-trade organizations and companies that certify food goods that give a fair price to the producers.
Check the OXFAM site on the web for more info on development issues. OXFAM has been around for decades and has some really good info.
Peace

particular, vegans could desire to be against sweatshops in concept, even though it extremely is not useful for each man or woman to consistently purchase unfastened commerce products, regrettably. all of us have a constrained quantity of time and power, and it variety of sounds like there are maximum of motives to objective to assist at as quickly as. extraordinarily with maximum of human beings (in united statesa., a minimum of) working low-paying jobs that merely somewhat conceal nutrition, lease, and costs, in the event that they get to the element the place they want new clothing, they are going to probably purchase the main inexpensive (sweatshop) out of necessity. If a somebody is finding out to purchase a number of superfluous or high priced clothing then i think of they're interior the area to purchase sweatshop unfastened however.

All I know is that when I need clothes I go get some. I cannot save the world with my one or two pairs of jeans that I buy a year.
I live to make my life the best it can be and help those around ME geographically. I help NO ONE I can't see right in front of me. Life is damn good here in the USA so why so many hate the US is really THEIR problem. I guess working in a sweatshop would be better than having no job at all.

Unfortunately, you don't know if it is made in a sweatshop, until long after you bought it. If it appears on the news as being made in a sweatshop, it doesn't matter, the only thing free is air.

I'm sure those poor exploited workers would prefer you to not buy their product, so that they can lose their jobs and return to starvation and prostitution. They'll really appreciate that.
