Have a look on wikipedia. It has a very good and well detailed outline of the role of forensic psychiatry. Foresnic Psychiatry is a sub speciality of general psychiatry which is itself a speciality within the field of medicine. You would need to complete a medical degree then specialise in Psychiatry after qualifying as a doctor. The subjects you have chosen are a good broad background for entry into medicine. Some universities also ask for Physics, so start checking into the prospectuses (Spelling right???) for the universities you want to apply to so that you can find out if they specifically require that. Good luck with it.

My recommendation would be to find job adverts for forensic psychiatrists. Then look at the kinds of degree qualifications they ask for.

Also try the careers centres within your school/college. They will have advisors and software, which can help you plan your route to becoming a forensic psychiatrist.

Good luck with your searching!

Do you mean a forensic psychiatrist or a forensic psychologist?? I have never heard of 'forensic psychiatry' but my friend is a forensic psychologist and studied a degree in forensic psychology at UWE, Bristol which holds the most forensic equipment of any University in the country.

Hi, I am not certain but I think Reading University does a degree in Phorensic Psychology. Go onto the UCAS website and have a look.

Good luck.

You will first need to go to medical school and become an MD.
See: http://www.bls.gov/oco/ocos074.htm

After medical school you can choose a specialty such as psychiatry.
