Use Easy Off. I use it all the time for my pots and pans. When the crud is thick I use an SOS pad after, and only after the Easy Off is washed off. If the pan is still grotty (and it usually is) I then spray it again with Easy Off then when it's ready to come off I wipe it clean and use the pads again. I will repeat it if necessary.
I use Easy Off almost all of the time for baked on foodstuff, and I would recommend it to be done in a well ventilated place. It works real good.

Try spraying easy off oven cleaner on it and let it sit for about 30 min. It works really well. It also works for cleaning the overhead thing above your stove to get the grease off.

soak the por bottoms in soapy water and use a plastic scraper, not an abrasive sponge..
and.. why is there so much built up grease?
for all the effort and time you will waste on cleaning, go buy another set of pots. i buy new pots and pans every two years. they are usually less than 100 bucks for a decent set...

What I do is put just a little bit of dishwashing soap on the bottom, and then just enough water to cover it. Then, boil on the stove for a little while. After that, it should wipe right off.
