I'm interested in knowing what everyone else thinks of the meaning of life? I have my own ideas, but it is interesting to see what other people think... heck, maybe someone will even change my own opinion on the subject..

80% of humanity, the religious folks, don't need to ask the meaning of life, the church tells them....the supernatural explanation. But the rest of us can't swallow religious dogma, because there's no evidence. Nobody can prove that there life after death, that people are tortured or rewarded after life or that there's invisible spirits running around.

I've come to two conclusions recently:

1. Life has no meaning
2. Life has a million meanings.

First, there's a certainty that death and annihilation awaits not only you, but the Earth in general. It's an astonomical certainty that our sun will supernova and leave the earth a burnt crisp, not to mention all the other extinction level events around the corner.

Second, the million things that give us meaning are the pleasurable experiences we can conjure up during the short period we are here on the earth, in the form of the relationships we have with our kids and other people, and the 'housekeeping' types of purposes. What i mean by that are the curing disease, ending hunger, improving literacy, reducing crime, preventing war, helping other kinds of things.

So the bottom line is, we only have a temporary meaning to life, to reduce pain and increase pleasure, other than that everything is lost to oblivion.

To be or not to be? "To be" is temporary and "not to be" is inevitable.....

lol, you asked..
Monty Python's.... The Meaning Of Life.
Anyway, there is no meaning, we all have a path whether or not we choose to follow it, not everyone is lucky enough to see it... but it seems most people are too busy caught up in crap to even bother that as long as they think they have a purpose or a meaning then all is well. (and i guess we're all gonna die someday so does it really matter cos it's all gonna be ripped away, everything you've earnt and all the people you've loved and lost, all the times you've been burned and all the victories) I guess better to make up your mind and stick with it rather than run around like a headless chook trying to figure it out without ever getting anywhere.
I choose a bad question to answer, this would better suit me on messenger.. hell.. if i have my whole life to answer this question then i'm gonna use every day to do so, no loss that no one is listening lol
*can't see my reflection with no head*

'meaning' is a human term. Life, in its most generic definition, is a quality of matter. Matter that is 'alive' forms organisms of vast variety. Properties common to the known organisms found on Earth (plants, animals, fungi, protists, archaea and bacteria) are that they are carbon-and-water-based, are cellular with complex organization, undergo metabolism, possess a capacity to grow, respond to stimuli, reproduce and, through natural selection, adapt in succeeding generations.

Although it cannot be pinpointed exactly, evidence suggests that life on Earth has existed for about 3.7 billion years.

I think life just is. It has no 'meaning' beyond what meaning you choose to give it. Choose wisely.

Well I think the only "instructions" nature has given us is to have reproduce. Beyond that, I think it doesn't care what we do. So no meaning from above.

As to why we're even here? Can't know. No idea.

As to what gives life meaning - I think love and happiness are what makes the whole experience fun and not just painful.

Well to give you a philosophical answer. In order to live we must first be able to die. With out death life would be meaningless. In order for life to be meaningless it first has to have meaning proving within a conundrum that life does have meaning. It also proves that death has meaning, as well. In it's purest mathematical form they must coexist or not exist at all. So there fore the meaning of life is to have the ability to die. And, the meaning of death is to perpetuate the existence of life.

The meaning of life is to achieve what it is to make a single person happy. As children grow up the start to develope ideas of what it is they want to do and accomplish in their adult life. Life is just the chain of events that leaed to the accomplishment of a persons life goal, and total happiness!

It's a journey from the cradle to the grave. You go through many successes and failures during the journey but the journey ends at one point and at that your successes and failures are all distant memories. Nothing else.

you r nor brought into life in order to understand it...so do not bother yourself by such questions...."LIFE" means everything...there is a very big difference between "to live" and "to survive"...it is just YOU who decide what his life means.

sometimes your life means nothing to you...but it means a lot to the others around you.....and vice versa.

life is a mirror that reflects the light comes out of you....the more you are shining... the more brighter image you can see yourself through.

good luck with your life.

I think the meaning of life is to try to enjoy every moment of your life, because life is too short. And to overcome your everyday as well as long term obstacles.
