Yes I get headaches caused from eye strain every once in a while. My eyes are already in bad shape due to Retinopathy of Prematurity. I almost went blind a few years back because of this. My vision gets progressively worse. I figure I'll get in all the reading I can before I go blind. I really should travel more too. If your retina detaches you will know it. Fisrt you have migranes that are worse than ever and then your vision will slowly fade away. Kind of like your field of vision is being blinded by a black curtain. It will come in from the left or the right then when you blink vision will return then go away again. Sometimes it will tunnel and that is a pain. Your eyes are important take care of them.

I work at a computer for most of the day, and try to get away from it at least once and hour, just to let my eyes refocus. I'll walk around the office, visit a friend for a moment or two, even step outside and look at things in the distance.

Then I do the dumb thing when I get home. I get plantetd in front of this computer and forget to rest my eyes once in a while. Believe me, they do start complaining... my eyes start watering and feeling irritated. If I don't stop at that point, my vision will slowly get blurry, until I actually have sort of double vision.

I asked my eye doctor about this, and he jokingly told me, "It's not your eyes, it's the computer. Give it a rest." I got the message. Now when my eyes start acting up while I'm online, I know it's time to get to sleep.

Do I know that problem! For me it is because my eyes get dry - and that is a problem for many other folk, possibly including yourself. The remedy is to use the type of eye drops known as "artificial tears". In England they are available off prescription at most chemists or opticians. However even before you go that route be sure that you are following best computer practise and standing away from the computer - and looking at something else - for a couple of minutes every half-hour. That is good for the eyes and good for the back.

It is recommended that if you are looking at a computer screen for a long time that you look away at least every 10 min. for a short period of time -- just that amount of rest can give your eyes the rest they need to not hurt you...
