I stupidly went outside with nothing on my feet and well.......:(

I have NO CALAMINE LOTION!!! (I hope that is how you spell that word) Does tea tree oil work or would it just burn the skin? Does anyone know some home remedy or something?

My little boy had the worst time with itchy bites last summer and nothing seemed to work. My mother in law finally tried baking soda. After he took his bath we kind of blotted his legs with a towel but left them just a little wet and then rubbed baking soda on them. This helped him better than anything else we tried. We also gave him benadryl sometimes to help with the itching. But it seemed like the baking soda dried up the ithy welts and made him feel better. Hope this helps!

According to this site:

http://www.vinegarbook.co.uk/Malt_vinegar_for_insect_bites.shtml

"You can use vinegar as an antiseptic to reduce the itch from mosquito or other insect bites, apply directly to the skin, vinegar also reduces any swelling and promotes healing".

A paste of baking soda and water works well.

Alternately, try a paste of Schilling's Meat Tenderizer and water.

Leave either one on for five mins.

Draws the itch right out.

I have used a baking soda paste to help with the itchiness. It has a salty base and that will pull out any poison and itchiness. It also works on bee stings and such.

Secret deoderant/antiperspirant...I had never heard of this until last summer, my bf's mom told me to put some on the bites to stop the itching and it worked! I don't know if it is just Secret or if other antiperspirants will work, Secret is what she had at the lake.

Pour vinegar straight on the bite.
It should take the sting and itch out of it.
Tried bleach, but it is too harsh.
Vinegar is better.

You won't believe this but lighter fluid stops the itching. I don't know why it works, but it does.
