Which of these major Texas cities do you like? (Or, if so, not like?) Why?

I've never been to El Paso; I've only been to the Houston suburbs, but not the Downtown area, but I'd love to go.

Dallas, I'm sure, has some fine qualities once you become acquainted with it, but first impressions did not rub off on me very well. (No offense to any Dallasites.)

I love:
-Austin: live music scene, 6th St., the beautiful parks, the Capitol, probably the most beautiful women in Texas, nice people, just unique.
-San Antonio: I know this sounds cliche, but the Alamo, Riverwalk, etc. But, during the spring and fall, I really enjoy the weather: very warm, not scorching, but very dry.
-Fort Worth: the easy-goin' side of the Metroplex. I love the Stockyards. It strikes me as being more of a nice place to live than to visit.

Houston scares me, Dallas is a great city, and I agree with the cities you love.

I read all the others and Houston is the place to be. Houston is known, but unknown. I was born and raised in Houston. Houston is simplistic. All the freeways meet downtown and there are two loops that cirvle houston 610 and the Beltway. Houston is not as commercial as Dallas. We are more big buisness than anything.
Each side of town is like a different city. Not one side is like another side. Due to our new Baseball, Basketball, and Football stadiums, Houston has made a lot of improvements. But I think we are the big brother to all the other cities.

San Antonio has a great hispanic community. I like San Antonio

Austin is nice but it caters to mainly college kids and the capital when in session. Austin is great if you want to party all the time. They have really nice Real Estate due to the hills.

El Paso to me is Mexico but on this side of the border. I went to Juarez a couple of times and came back and did not know I was back in the states because they look alike. They have Fort Hood and Utep. So they are really not doing anything big as in economy.

I have been to Dallas many times and I never really felt like I was in Texas. Dallas is too commercial with the Cowboys, the show, assasination and being Texas fashion capital. Those are the only things goin on there.

Houston - lived there for 5 years and loved it. My impression of it is that it's a GREAT place for a young, single adult. Lot's of great night-life, clubs and restaraunts. I wouldn't want to raise a family there. Even lawyers and bankers wear cowboy boots with their suits.

San Antonio - LOVE IT. I always said that I would honeymoon in S.A. I didn't know where my husband would go, but I would be in San Antonio. 80) Its a very romantic place.

Austin - Very chic, a very happinin' town to see and be seen in. A one-of-a-kind place to experience. A great place for singles and families.

El Paso - Never been there. Don't think I would want to go there.

Ft. Worth - VERY Texas town. For being so close to Dallas it has such a western culture and heritage. I personally think its a great place to see but I wouldn't want to live there (my mother does)

Dallas - Born and raised there 24 years. Stick to the North side. Very chic, conservative town where you can see, get do or be ANYTHING your heart desires. Very diverse culture. Great shopping.

I've been away from Texas for nearly 20 years. My family has seen Dallas and Ft. Worth, but that's it. I would love to be able to show them Houston, San Antonio and Austin some day. They are such great places.

San Antonio. I live here and I love the small town feel. The people here are very nice they will literally give you the shirt off their back. All the things you mentioned I love too. I LOVE going to Spurs games and you can't forget Fiesta week...it's a week long party!!

I've lived in San Antonio, many years ago, and visited the others. At this point in my life, Amarillo is plenty big enough for me!

Houston is way to hard to drive in. You get lost everywhere you go.
I like Dallas a lot I try to go at least once a month.
