Okay, here's the deal. Someone was looking for a website on a particular subject. I suggested that that person go web-surfing for himself and then I said that he/she was a "lazy butt". I was just joking. Do you think that I was out of line? I'm just curious as to what others think regarding this matter. Most of the time I give serious advice, but every now and then I try to say something a little humorous if the subject matter isn't serious. Tell me the truth, do you think this was worth a "violation"?

I've seen worse insults here. Seems a bit prudish, but then the Violation/ No-Violation line gets blurry. I see you point, but then if you start with low-level name calling, it could escalate. We should try to avoid it.

Some people get so offended so easily, I got one this morning too for telling someone that they were hallucinating! So calling someone a lazy butt is not bad at all.

Yes it was wrong. But, Yahoo moderators are not known for their common sense nor their fairness.

Observe the gay bashing on this site and you will see that often the bashing remains but any responses that criticize the poster for their bigotry and foul remarks are deleted and violation notices dispatched.

No.......I too try to give serious advice....but ....well....sometimes the humor I see in some of these questions just hits me first and I just can't help myself. But some people have no sense of humor......be glad you do.

No - I got a violation for saying someone's question was "dumb." Go figure.
