I'm a woman who was in a line of work that was primarily male for 18 years, and have worked the last 6 years with females. In my experience, I was able to do what I needed to do without worrying about anyone stabbing me in the back, gossiping about me, prying into my life, reading things I didn't mean into things I said, and expressing extreme sensitivity about trivial things when I worked with males. If I said, "I'm too busy to do that for you right now", a male took it that I meant exactly what I said and came back later. If I say the same thing to a woman, I'm an uppity b**ch. In an office with males I did my job and said what I meant. In an office with females I tiptoe, walk on eggshells, and watch every word I say for possible offenses. If I pass someone in the hallway and don't utter a perky, chipper, "Good morning, how are YOU", I'm hateful and rude, instead of extremely busy or in a hurry. I hate that I feel this way, but this is what 24 years work experience has taught me.

I feel almost the same way about that. I think when there are so many women in a place they get chatty and competitive, then here we go with the whole backstabbing activities. With men, some of them are like that too, but they tend to let more things roll off their backs than women would.

Because men work together better as a team. Clusters of women more often form soap operas. Men focus on the work, women seem to spend more time analyzing relationships.

There are women who are exceptions, just as there are men who are exceptions.

If you watch programmes like the Apprentice you see that women have a habit of pulling in very different directions and undermining each other.

Guys do not seem to do that, they do seem to work better together. They seem to realise that working as a team, they can win and shine through as effective people.

The women seem to think that they have to outdo everyone else on their team, otherwise they are not argressive enough.

I am happy working in either environment

Because women are far more emotional in the sense that we like to gossip and talk about each other. Any woman who tells you otherwise is not being honest.

I am a women and would not like to work with just women. Man we can be brutal.

For a guy there are less problems, as far as relationships, and office gossip. For a women surrounded by men, mostly they are treated like royalty.

Try it and you won't be long in finding out why.
Women are alright individually but steer clear of any more than two of them in a group.
I think you will find this is the general opinion.

after a while, when forced to share space, women will eventually have a disagreement and never ever ever let it go. men will disagree and get over it fairly quick.

men are just easier to work with, less bitching and complaining, and less backstabbing. i would much rather work with a group of men.

I don't feel that way. I wonder if its men or women who claim this is a bad answer? Probably men.
