Caring for others for their sakes, and not for what you can get out of it (16 words OK).
Many people have the mistaken notion that life is about *self-fulfillment.*
The problem with that is that when you seek happiness directly, it always eludes you.
That explains why so many people, today, are miserable and frustrated. They have bought into the lie of the media (newspapers, television, men's and women's magazines) that *self gratification* is the purpose of life and that all other people and things are but *means* to that|
That is a *huge error* that has ruined countless lives|
The meaning of life is to dedicate oneself to what is other and higher than the self - e.g. spouse, children, neighborhood, extended family, Church, and God|
When you do this in the proper self-forgetful way, then happiness mysteriously finds you|
No selfish person is ever happy - ever!
No selfless person is ever unhappy. They have their cross to bear, for sure, but inside they are contented and at peace|

Robert A. Heinlein defined "love" as a condition in which another person's happiness is essential to your own".
You really can't reduce that to one or two words.

Do you honestly believe that love can be summarised in two or less words? If you do, you really have NO idea what love truly is...

In one word.....sacrifice.
as a parent, we sacrifice much of our lives to be certain our children have all they need.
as a partner, we sacrifice whatever is needed in order to help our partner in whatever way we can.
as a friend, we sacrifice time in order to be there when we are needed.
as a citizen, we sacrifice whatever is needed to help our fellow man in times of crisis.
as a person, we sacrifice things we WANT in order to have what we NEED.
if those things cannot be defined as love, I don't know what can.

A feeling. Joying God. Even it looks that some people here believe that God ( = Love) is feromon.
