NO ! The exposure of Britain to the citizens of Eire is restricted mainly to the once commonplace, Irish building labourer, and road workers. Ireland was once an almost completely agricultural, rural economy, poor by social standards, and of course isolated from mainstream Europe. However this does not alter the fact that Ireland despite its small population, continues to produce more `thinkers`and literary greats than the USA. As with all societies, there are great variations in educational achievements, and today Ireland can outdo many so-called , advanced cultures,and the average Irish citizen compares favourably with any nation on earth.

Yes, there are stupid Irish. There are also incredibly intelligent Irish that think almost level with Einstein, Newton and Hawking.

HOWEVER, they are 'considered' less intelligent because then the jokes that make fun of stupid people wouldn't work.

There was a series of Irish jokes that implies that they are stupid, in the same way that Americans make jokes about Poles.

Of course the Americans couldn't make jokes about the Irish in this way as many of them were Irish immigrants.

Of course there are both intelligent and stupid Irish & Poles.

First of all the Republic of Ireland does not fall within the category of the UK (and don't forget it) and secondly wherever you acquired this idea from it is wholly incorrect. I don't believe the Irish are considered less intelligent nor is it true.

Ther Irish education system frequently ranks in the top five in the world (usually above the UK). And it ought to be stated for the record that Irish intellectual are often claimed to be from the UK, they clearly can't have enough of their own if they're doing that!

I LOVE the Irish they are a gorgeous lot. I think the micky taking comes from the fact that some small Irish town are so laid back, which I think is FAB not a sign of lower intellegence!

Definitely untrue and a very racist remark. Irish people are far more educated than English people and get higher results in GCSE's and A levels and the equivalent. Irish people who don't get good results go to English Universities as it is easier to get in with lower grades, as the standards are lower there. I have an IQ of 155 and that puts me in the top 1% for intelligence in the UK and I am Irish! I don't generalise about racial intelligence like you. There are many smart people and stupid people in every race. Due to your generalisation I assume you lack intelligence as this reflects poor reasoning. You need to adjust your way of thinking.
