Hey, my girlfriend is always complaining that I don't shave properly when I do! I use a fresh razor blade once a week and I use an electric powered handheld razor (with the small battery) I shave really slow and I go against the hair growth direction. Also if I shave everyday my skins feels really irritable, what can I do to stop this. Thanks!

Actually, this is a common mistake, your supposed to shave the way that the hair is growing, and not against it. And it could be the kind of shaving cream do you use, because some people have different skin se.nsitivities. Even how warm or cold the water is that you use. Hope that helps

Great question - I used to have the same problem as you. I would break out and have blood all over the place and my neck was always sore. I tried everything and nothing seemed to work. Finally I hit upon the solution. I would wash my face thoroughly with warm water and soap. I bought a shaving mug and bought some Williams Shaving Soap. I bought a horse hair brush and a cup for it. I would fill the sink with warm water and once my shaving soap and mug were warm. I would take the horse hair brush and lather it up and apply it liberally all over my face and my neck. You are wise to change your razor weekly - especially if you have sensitive skin. I was allergic to some of the previous stuff I was using and this Shaving Soap made my skin feel great and the razor glides over my skin. It does not make a difference which way I shave - following the hair pattern or against it. What I have been able to do is make the hair easier to cut and my skin does not look like I have just wiped my face on sand paper. I then take my shower ofter shaving and I look great compared to the days of having 22 pieces of toilet paper on my face.

I have use this for years. You can find the soap in most drug stores and it is dirt cheap. I normally buy everything a drug store has out - like 4 bars. I know CVS sells it.

I have converted a couple of my buddies over to this and they both have had better and cleaner shaves. It is old fashion but it really works well for me and my buddies.

Give it a try

First you should change your razor more then once a week. I've been told by a heath specialist that after 3 shaves a razor is really done. If you do keep them longer, then remember to always wash out the razor with hot water and dry it before storing it. As for the electric handheld. I haven/t found one that works good at alll. Use a mutliple blade razor and use hot water first on your face and with your shaving cream. Always shave down. If you save up on your neck, youmight agrivate the hair growth on your neck and break out. When your done saving also use more hot water on your face and then a cool aftershave cream.

First stop using an electric razor. Try the disposable safety razors and shaving cream. Use a mositurizer on your face and wash it with cleanser once a day. Good Luck...

You could try wet shaving, with foam and a proper razor. Try going against the way the hairs grow as well

Simple tips :
-ALWAYS SHAVE AFTER THE YOUR BATH.
FACIAL HAIR CAN SWELL UP TO THRICE THEIR SIZE ON ABSORBING WATER, THIS MAKES THEM SOFT .
-REFRAIN FROM USING THE ELECTRIC SHAVER AS THE FAST SPEED CAUSES LOCAL HEAT BUILD UP AND DAMAGES THE SENSITIVE FACIAL SKIN
-THE TIME YOU SPEND ON PROPERLY LATHERING YOUR FACE AND THEN USING A FRESH TWIN/TRI BLADE SAFETY RAZOR, BELEIVE ME IS WORTH IT.
- ALWAYS SHAVE FIRST WITH THE GRAIN TO REMOVE THE TOUGHER HARDER BRISTLES AND THEN IF YOU NEED TO GO AGAINST THE GRAIN BUT REAL SLOW AND WITH A LOT OF LATHER.
- DRINK A LOT OF WATER AS IT HELPS THE SKIN REJUVENATE.
- USE ANY GOOD AFTER SHAVE AND THEN APPLY SOME ALOE VERA BASED EMOLLIENT LOTION.
-AND YES DON'T EXPECT MIRACLE WITHTHE FIRST TIME YOU DO, SO WAIT A WHILE

Go with the grain not against it. You probably have sensitive skin so try shaving every other day.
