My first recomendation is to bring and older person with you so they wont take advantage of you, like your dad or someone.....
second look the vehicle over real good, look under the vehicle for any leaks, check the oil and transmission fluid, take the vehicle for a test ride and pay attention the the steering and brakes.
Aside from this have fun picking out what you like.... for Dodge my dad has an 2001 Intrepid with 300K on it and it runs great, he changes the oil every 3K miles. I have an 03 Durango and love it. I like Dodge alot and as long as you take care of any car it will treat you good.

look at the Dodge and Chrysler products... then run away like your butt hairs have caught fire. they are virtually worthless on trade in, and are not the most reliabel vehicles. don't think that because a vehicle is made in japan it is the best thing ever, either. american vehicles are gaining ground in quality, reliability, styling, and all other aspects too. get what you like, but at 16 power and speed should be the very least of your concerns. may i suggest something like a crown vic so that when you do get stupid and play paintball on the road with your friends, you at least have some form of protection around you? another honda with a fart cannon on the back is not what this country needs!

I used to sell cars at a dealership. I can tell you one thing with absolute certainty. If you go to any car lot, make sure that an older person accompanies you. Preferably someone whom has had multiple cars and knows a little something about bargaining.
Don't buy a vehicle unless you have walked away from it atleast once.

at age 16 you have a 30 % chance of wrecking the first 6 months.. Get a buick. Old people take good care and trade in often. You can hget a real nice almost new one for 5000.. they get good milage and r safe and you can fit all your friends in it.. I know they r not cool but its the most car for the money. wait for the convert....save yer $

I would recommend a Toyota.
They are dependable and there resale value is very high
It is common to get at least 300,000 miles out of a Toyota with regular maintenance

depends on how well the car is maintained- you could get a car with low miles and is bad because it was not maintained and one that has alot of miles but the owner took pride in it and get up on the maintenance.
