Hmm.....first with Foley. Now with Ney.

A letter to the judge(re: Ney and asking for leniancy) states he starts drinking at 7:30 am.....is this the new excuse for the Republicans(and possibly others)?

"it's not my fault...I'm an alcoholic"

GMAB

I dont think its a republican issue its more of a human issue. Too many people make excuses instead of taking responsibility for their actions. As a society we have also come to except this. Child molesters, murders, etc. There are too many people that say, oh he is sick, he just needs help. When we stop excepting it,maybe they will stop using the excuses. I have to say though, I guess its better then lying about it, lol

Nope Ted Kennedy is an example of a drunken senator who has managed to pass landmark legislation despite the fact he is drunk .
44 years of service towards human rights trying to allow government to stay out of moral issues .While he is opposed to abortion he accepts that not all people have the same view as he does due to his Catholic indoctrination . While personally against abortion it is a right under the law to have an abortion . Because this is a moral and religious issue it remains highly debated because of the social impact that prohibiting abortion leads to. What sentence do we impose on murderers of innocent children is the question and over 200,000 illegal abortions would be performed . What do we due when in ten years the prison population reaches 2 million or do the first 500,000 jailed for life make going to mexico and canada the only place to get an abortion force yet another law that only affects the poor .
Many conservatives dislike Ted and for reasons they just can not accept . Society is full of people who do not live by the same moral code as you might expect and for conservatives the solution is prison and execution .
This is similar to the crusades which forced religious compliance at the end of a sword . Holy wars that slaughtered towns villages and laid siege to cities all to convert or destroy people who had opposing morality .

Didn't Foley also claim that he was abused?

It's probably best to have two excuses in case one doesn't get the required amount of sympathy (gag).

If this is the Republicans excuse for going bad, at least it is a problem that can be fixed. What do the Democrats blame for going bad?. Oh yea... A history of it... Never Mind....

It looks like some Republicans have learned this from Ted Kennedy and Patrick Kennedy. So far all of the alleged victims of Republican drunks have lived, unlike Mary Jo Kopechne who drowned in drunken Teddy's car.

That's the Washington way. Do everything BUT take responsibility for your own weaknesses. Hell, Fat Teddy Kennedy used the alcohol thing for years.

Fortunately for everyone, GWB is not an alcoholic. His sober look at world events will help us carry the war in Iraq and take on Iran if necessary.
