Depends. I wouldn't want to die just to make a statement, but if my death had a real and significant effect, I might be willing to sacrifice myself for it. The effect had best be pretty darn real and significant, though.
I believe I'd be willing to die in order to save the lives of certain close family members. As a rule, I don't think it's possible to know you'd give your life for some cause unless you've actually faced a situation where you had to consciously make that decision. Some limits can only be known through trial by fire.

Exactly , you made a perfect choice , it is the conviction actually the truth of the bible.I give my life for the conviction and the truth of Saint Peter , etc , Saint Gheorge , Isaiah , Iezechiah , Saint John the Baptist ....
Today I talked to an old pilot who took part in the second world war. He said that it was't a pleasure to fight in war , but he had to do it because I and others wouldn't exist today.
Actually there are other ideeas , coming from God for whom people had to give their lives....
For e.g., every woman gives her life when she gives birth. In past , some could die.Today it still happens from time to time , not often , very rare perhaps , or it is about to happen...

No, because "dying for a cause" is meaningless. It is LIVING for your cause, or conviction that is what is truly productive. To live for a purpose means that you are able to be an active, functioning contributor. You can apply your passion, your voice, and any particular skills that you may have to the benefit of that cause. Dying just takes you out of the game, and you never know what you might have been able to do if you had stayed alive, and in it.
Martin Luther King was slain as a direct result of the cause he espoused. He was aware of the risks, but he did not purposely set out to die for that cause, and the manner in which he lived for it had a powerful and historical impact on the future.

I've known since I was a teen that I'm going out with a bullet
to the head! Like Dr Martin Luther King, Jr, President
Kennedy, his brother Bobby, and Good Old Abe LIncoln.
But not until the Good Lord is done with me!

Jesus Christ is the Son of God - God incarnate - sent to the earth to redeem man from sin. I'd go down in a heartbeat if anyone threatened my life and tried to get me to renounce Him.
