Some people get Braxton Hicks right through a pregnancy as where others dont get them ever. Relax and stop worrying - as the mdwife says - No bleeding usually indicates no problem xx

Braxton Hicks contractions
As early as six weeks into all pregnancies, the uterus, which is a large muscle, begins to contract rhythmically. These contractions (called Braxton Hicks contractions or `False labor`) are usually irregular and painless, and, because they usually do not cause the cervix to dilate, they do not threaten the pregnancy. They last about one to two minutes.
These contractions might be noticed during the second half of pregnancy, some women don't even notice them.
Why do I have Braxton Hicks contractions?
Throughout the pregnancy, the uterus periodically contracts to facilitate better blood flow through the placenta and the fetus. They are also thought to strengthen the uterine muscles and ready them for the normal labor process.
What does a Braxton Hicks contraction feel like?
Braxton Hicks contractions aren't usually painful, just uncomfortable. It feels like a tightening of your belly in your lower abdomen and groin.

Yes, I had them early in my second pregnancy. It was really alarming as I thought it was too early as well, and was straight on the phone to my midwife. She reassured me that as long as I wasn't bleeding and hadn't leaked any fluid it was OK. I also fond that they were a lot more sore and intense than the first time round. Towards the end of my second pregnancy I used to think every day that my labour was going to start later that day, but it never did! When it did start it was nothing like a sore braxton hick!

I have had pains since I conceived (currently nine weeks) so I was very re-assured to read that all women get uterine contractions through-out our pregnancy but most of us dont feel them...so maybe you and I amongst others are some of the women who do. if you are really really concerned (even without any bleeding) they should see you at the hospital to check you over.....when you are pregnant even a few weeks (31st) can feel like a life time away!! Goodluck with everything!

I was having what I thought were back spasms and turned out to be contractions at 18 weeks I went down to the ER because they would not stop and found out your body does this when you have an infection I had a UTI but that doesn't mean that there is something wrong as long as your not pushing yourself and call your doc I think it's OK Best of Luck and I'm praying for a healthy baby boy or girl for you

Yes you can have Braxton Hicks that early and the strength of them varies from mum to mum. Some people don't feel them at all but others have them almost as strongly as labour contractions.
If your MW seems happy though try and relax (easier said than done I know) but if you are still concerned go and see your GP on Monday morning to see if he/she will have a listen with a doppler.

I am 18 weeks today, I have been having braxton hicks for the last few days, they are painless, it is a tighten in the lower abdomen right above pelvic area, the I notice I usually have to urinate as son as the tightening goes away.
I have also noticed I have to pee every hour the past week also, anyone else experience this?

I would say u can as I got them at 20 weeks with my last pregnancy..They are not panful though, they are tightening sensations that come and go,your tummy will get rock hard and tighten up and u will probably get short of breath for that few seconds...The cramps and pains down below are more of ligamenst stretching and the baby thats growing thats putting pressure on your pelvis...I wouldnt worry, these are all normal parts of pregnancy..Good Luck!

Yes that is completely normal to get them at that time especially since this is your 3rd baby. I am having my 4th child and started having BH contractions at 18 weeks. My doctor said if you have had several pregnancies alreayd that around 20 weeks is normal. You actually begin to get these contractions around week 6 of your pregnancy, but just dont realize it and dont feel them until much later.
