Scotland is a country, as is Wales, N. Ireland and England and all together they are the United Kingdom

Scotland, England, Wales, and Northern Ireland are all countries in the UK. The UK is a united kingdom of countries, sort of like the EU, but the EU isn't a kingdom. All four countries have their own government, but they're also all ruled by Queen Elizabeth II. And I don't think you need to have a passport to go from one UK country to another.

Scotland is a part and region of UK, and UK is the country. It has its own county. UK is comprised of ENGLAND, SCOTLAND, N. IRELAND and WALES.

my stock knowledge about the topic:
The difference between Great Britain and UK is that GB comprises of England, Scotland, Wales, or as we call it "great" because it is made up of British regions. Adding N. Ireland, it is now called United Kingdom, comprising 2 islands, separated by the English Channel. That's why it is called "united".
