I have heard the standard definitions and read enough, so if you are gonna quote text books or add stuff that's obviously utopian, please save urselves the trouble.
My contention is that Freedom of Speech is fictitious and cannot exist and has to be replaced with the more apt 'responsibility of speech'

It is the right to say or write what you want, as long as that does not verbally abuse others.

'Responsibility of speech' would be a good word for it.

Valid point but the birth of this country was made atop that notion and amendment. It will not disappear simply because it is the foundation of how most people view their world.
As much as I agree with you, freedome of speech is absurd when you can use it to be a bigot, or eratic protester or homophobe. Its existence itself contradict what it stands for.
If you can't live in a world where you are responsible for what you say then it's mayhem anyone can say whatever they want, escalating in much more.

You are absolutely right!

Freedom of speech does not exist - never has, never will.

Whatever social, business, or other personal setting you are in, there are always acceptable parameters as to what can be expressed (these parameters can be good or bad, just or unjust).

If you step out of line there, there is always a sanction that depends upon the gravity of the "offense."

Never and at no time has anyone been able to say anything they want in a given setting|

Freedom of speech is not unrestricted. It is a least delineated by common courtesy and common standards of behavior. Beyond that, as long as the speech is not libelous, it is permissible. Even libelous speech can be made, but the legal consequences must be endured.
