I just want to ask why women aren't as proud of their flatulence and bowel movements as men?

Example: When I was working, a Mexican girl coworker left to use the restroom. She was gone for at least 20 minutes. She came back looking tired and was breathing hard. I asked her out loud if she took a dump. She said no, but didn't say it with confidence and was hesitant, so I thought she was lying. I said "oh, because you were gone a long time." And she quickly became angry and defensive, which surprised me because she's usually the cheery type. She told me to shut up. I jokingly said I could smell it but before I could finish the sentence she angrily demanded that I shut up about it. So I said, OK, I'll leave it alone. Keep in mind that another male co-worker was laughing the entire time. And even after the subject was dropped, she'd glance at me each time I spoke, almost in a fear that I'd bring up the subject of her bowel movements again.

Why are women so ashamed of this?

It's not that we don't. It's that most of us have better things to talk about. I personally excuse to my self to the restroom. It is rude to do that in the presence of others. It is also rude to speak of it in mixed company. It shows a serious lack of manners and judgment to say that to anyone man or woman. Saying what you did to your co workers shows that you have no respect for your job or the people you work with. Had I been in her position I would have pushed for your termination or transfer under a rock. I'm sure what you are looking for in your question is why do men and women view this topic so differently. It's easy we are right and you are very very wrong. Just accept that and leave the potty talk for when it's just the guys. Even then try your best to think of something better to talk about or do with your time.

Women Dont Fart

Because, dude, they DONT fart or poop.

They 'freshen up'.

There are some things that they just can't talk about with us guys (unless you're married) and I would imagine she felt extremely humiliated by how you asked her that out loud in public (and your friend's guffawing can't have helped).

I would apologise the next time we met or else she might resent you for embarassing her like that.

ps. Women think differently than we do. Just accept that. You don't have to understand it.

Not ashamed per se. We just don't like to discuss it for the same reason guys don't like talking about girls' periods. It's gross and it's not a good conversation topic in "polite company."

Ok, I am both a lady and a tomboy. I am here to clear up this ridiculous topic once and for all. Some women are just as proud of their bowel movements and flatulence as men, and boast about it to their male friends or tomboy friends, or family. The reason a lot (most) women deny the fact that they make bowel movements, and have gas build up (flatulence), is because gas smells bad. Women are generally associated with being beautiful, and smelling pretty. Where as men are accepted for, nay expected to smell bad (maybe not all the time but sometimes). It all comes down to some of the most basic human expectations. When we humans were still developing as a species, men would be out hunting for food (covering themselves in animal waste to disguise their scent, running around getting all sweaty, as well as carrying large animals back to their dwellings for their families.) Where as women would stay in their "homes" to raise children. That is not just a stereo type it's just how women were. In order to procreate and continue the species, the women had to be home to ensure not only the safety of her young, but also that they had the necessary nutrients, to be able to grow up to be strong enough to continue to survive and carry on the species. Now to bring this back to the main point; women claim to not do things that smell bad, is because not only is it a base instinct, but also because women feel that if they smell like a man, they will be treated like one, and not seen as a potential romantic interest. It's like being afraid of being placed in the friend (bro) zone by guys. I mean honestly, if you hung out with a girl who always dressed in baggy clothing (things that didn't define her feminine frame), and talked about farting and taking a dump all the time, or invites you too look at her glorious poo, would you still find her attractive? And do you think that a woman would not friend zone you if you grew your hair out like her's, got your nails done together, and talked about all the boys you think are cute? Of course she would, just like you would friend zone her. Men generally like a girl who can be herself while also being able to be cute. It's fine when we talk about it every now and again passingly, but when it's in your face it makes you uncomfortable. Just like women like when men act like men. Gentlemanly but also themselves. They also like it when they get all hot and sweaty from a long hard days work...then take all of their clothes off...and makes sweet, sweet love to them...that's so hot...sorry off topic. But you get the point. Hopefully this has opened your eyes a little bit into the mind of women. :)

Haha... Good question.

Maybe they think having bowel movements (which all things do, read the book "Everybody Poops") is unladylike. You're right though... I'm still laughing.

Are you racist "crazy" (guy above me). You don't like Mexicans or something? Maybe she was embarassed because it smelled really, really bad. Maybe she thought you were serious when you said, "I can smell it from here." She is just sensitive about her smelly poopies.

It seems appalling that this would even be a subject anyone's conversation and why would you feel led to embarrass the lady!
Comes down to it, you have a really gross side to you.

The fact that you even metnioned she was a Mexican shows bias on your part. Get a life!

Ashamed of discussing their bowl movements with males? Dear, are you absolutely d...? You actually told a girl she was smelly, and she yet treated you kindly in return. Imagine making fun of her in front of another man!
Indeed, it would have served you right if she said back that she could smell you worse every day and could hardly endure it, and then left you to laugh at it.

We're not ashamed about this topic. We are disgusted yet bewildered s to why this is such a hot topic to men.
