I think you start to lose your eyesight when you use them too much in near-sighted work such as doing homework and giving it too little rest. Lying on the bed while reading and reading in dim light contributes to the eyesight getting worse too.

You're referring to "Presbyopia", or losing eyesight with age.

Vision is a complex process involving a lot of steps. The main one involved in normal bad eyesight involves the lens in the front part of the eye not properly adjusting incoming light to hit the retina in focus. As you get older, the ciliary muscles controlling the lens weaken and the lens becomes more rigid, resulting in less control and a smaller range of distances that appear clear.

My wife had wore thick glasses all her life and the eye Dr. changed her cataract liens and she is doing fine ,just don't like how she looks without glasses. Go to a good Dr. it may be a little expensive but it is worth it.
