A brick weighs 30 pounds plus half a brick:

b = 30 + 1/2b

1/2b = 30

b = 60

(Which is obvious, really, because 1/2 a brick must equal 30 pounds in order for the two things to add up to a whole brick.)

Then a brick and a half is 3/2 of a brick:

3/2b = 90 pounds.

If I understand the problem correctly.

Let B=brick,c=cannonball,com=computer,P=poun... if B=3P+1/2 X C C=3p+1/2 X B COM=(B+1/2 XB)+(C+1/2 X C). :. COM+B+C=12P+3.5 of C OR 22.5P+3.5 of B. That's to say that,the computer ,the Birck and the cannonball will weigh 12 pounds plus 7/2 of cannonball or 45/2pounds plus 7/2 of BRICK..

That's so easy, if a brick weighs 30 lbs., and a half a brick weighs 15lbs. Add those two weights together and unless I'm mistaken, the total comes to a full 45lbs.

90 lbs

Brick = x

x = 30 + 1/2x
x - 1/2x =30
1/2x = 30
x - 60
60 x 1 1/2 = 90
