Well london has the largest population of anywhere in the uk so its likely it has the most of everytype of person

and as its the capital, its more diverse than small towns, people are more open and less closed minded

And what where they up to pray tell ? If u were in " gay club" perhaps you were in the wrong environment for you sexual orientation! So keep out of gay clubs I have a few gay friends of both genders and I often go clubbing with them ! London has many gay clubs scattered about so obviously there will seem to be more gay people out and about ! Anyway most people are aware that most gay clubs are usually pretty cool As you do not seem to get the Chav element falling around like idiots intent on ruining everyone Else's night out ! yes I am a straight man

Soho like other media areas tends to have lots of Gay clubs and businesses and gay community. Just like Camden is more alternative... thats all...

Oh and London is a big city so more in concentrated areas of all types of people

Inner london has a concentration of gay guys because the large concentration of population allows people of any type to live anonamously (I can't spell). So any gays that ended up there found they were not persecuted as they were in smaller towns and villages where they were identified as gay.
So they told their friends and gradually more and more gays came to London.
Another factor is that those who are uncertain of their sexuality who are already in London are to a greater extent "turned" into gays - a self-perpetuating cycle perhaps.

I have heard that transvestites are not gay but, enjoy dressing as women. I think many gay people migrate to big cities for the anonymity because their families are not accepting of their homosexuality and also access to many other gay people.

I doubt there's 'more' but in a city you have far more diversity so more people feel they can be themselves.

If there are 10 homosexuals for every 100 people (for example), then you will automatically have a higher number wherever there's more people.... And then they create a social circle and go out to the same clubs etc so it FEELS like there are loads but in reality its just because cities have more of EVERYONE in them- blacks, whites, asians, gays, lesbians etc etc

Also, it migh be because they feel more 'invisible' as cities are more anonymous and thus, they feel less like they are being jusged and watched?

Maybe?

I think that In London they feel secure about their sexuality, anything goes. Imagine what would happen if they made themselves that obvious say in Glasgow. Obviously all town and cities have there gay population, but tend to stick to one area and not make it so blatant

I don't think there are any more gay people today than there ever was, the only difference is that today we live in a much more tolerant society. People no longer feel the need to hide their sexuality and embrace it instead.

What were they up to Maggie?

Trust me they are the largest group of any type of people. I can't move in my workplace without bumping into someone who is gay, and I work in a normal retail shop, imagine if I worked at Alahambra or a hairdressers.

Because people in London are more accepting in general towards differences whether they be race, religion or sexuality. In London you can in the main be yourself - within reason - and nosey busy-bodies will not stick their nose into your private life.
