Hello there fellow people, I have windows XP SP2 installed on my laptop.
I want to know how I could change the username of my system(i'm not talking about the login name or account names). I know that my computer has a my name in it. and i dont feel right whenever i connect online and knows that there can be possibility that some people could see the name on my computer.

How can i change that name??

Go to control panel there you will see user account settings from there you can change .

Control Panel > System > Computer Name

In the desktop,right click on "My Computer",click properties.Select the tab computer name,on the bottom click change.Alternatively you can use the first answerers suggestion.

In the control pannel just click on user and change the user name finshed

that's genuine, as a lot genuine as that's which you would be able to alter the username and password it is likewise genuine that the account has been created in a prior call and that alot of folders and registry has been created with the old consumer and might't be replaced, so my propose it to depart this account and creat a clean acount with your call which would be completely yours and has you call throughout it. better of luck

go to following way
start button--->my computer click right button go to property then in system propert go to computer name tab then you see a button change click it & change it.
