Hi, tough times are never permanent. You can stay positive by
1. Accepting it. Don't think life is mistreating you. It is happening to many others. That is why we are called mortals.
2. Think about it and see what you can derive from it. Convert it into a puzzle and try to see what solutions you can get from there.
3. Help others - If there is any one around you that you can help, then help them. I am sure you would be happy if there is a true friend around in those hard times, you can also be a friend to people that are in tougher conditions.
4. Get busy - You have to get to doing something. Your mind and body must be kept active.
5. Finally, I would want you to try to keep your mind thinking only good. Don't entertain thoughts of fear. Let your thoughts center on good things. No matter how tough things are, am sure you have something in your life that is enviable! Maybe your kid, your friend, yourself, anything. Focus on those and get moving. Life is a journey.
I made out this slogan years back - 'Never down until six feet down'

Remember the examples around you are things you want to avoid. And that your life does NOT have to be that way. Try to find some friends that are more like who you want to be or currently are. Join some clubs in school, like the debate team. Basically ones that college-bound kids join. And get away to a different environment as soon as you can. Apply to colleges and try to get enough scholarships and financial aid to live at the school. State schools can be a great financial choice. This will be a chance to choose to associate with a different group of people. Put alot of effort into your college applications, and get alot of help (from teachers you respect) with your essay. Tell a really good story - very upbeat - about how dedicated you are to getting an education. Don't make it too much of a sob story. Just quick reasons why you learned how important educatoin is, how much you are dedicated to getting a college degree. Good luck! Sounds like you may have a difficult road ahead, don't give up. You can be an inspiration to others.

Try to think of small manageable positive things - a beautiful day, a nice cup of tea...the smaller the better. Stay away from the big picture and try to blank out everything at least for a minute or two. The less involved the image or thing you take joy in and concentrate on, the better.
I also try to swim or walk around. My mind is still racing with all of the bad, but the physical demands of the exercise help to calm and distract me.
Hang in there. My life is a mess right now too. Just try to keep your head above water and don't be too hard on yourself.

If there is a reason for you to be, live and exist, there may be a re ason for you to experience, some times we can never explain why the hard times, though in nature there is the saying that calm becomes after the storm, though this can also be the other way around. find the reasons, for what such hardships you have going through happen, perhaps is because is time for you to pursue some radical changes. Do you spend sometimes in an idle position?

My hardest times in my life is when I came back from Vietnam and was spitted on from the American public. After 5 purple hearts and 29 metals it was tough to a just to the situation at that time. During that time I pray the rosary. By praying you meditate to get through life toughest challenges. Try your form of prayer or meditate and God will give you strength. Good luck with your life .It very precious.

Life hits you hard. When you are in situations where you can't do anything about it, when you're really hurting and you can't do anything about it, just think, tomorrow I'm going to wake up, it's going to be a new day, I won't be depressed anymore, and I'll be okay. Think of your depression as something very temporary. I know that it's hard to see the good through the bad sometimes but think about it this way.
Okay so you're life is horrible!!! What are you going to do about it? Suicide? Go emo? You are better than them. You have more will power than those depressed teenagers who committed suicide. Just keep going in life and think "One day something is going to happen and my life will rock!"
Right now for me, since my girlfriend broke up with me recently, life seems really empty. I can't imagine happiness although I can remember what an exhilarating feeling it was. I think that there's no hope. That this world is so limited. It's hard. But ignore those thoughts. And I live my life as if nothing bad has happened to me.

You are doing well, just by being aware that you need to stay positive. I can but share the way I stay positive in difficult times. Yes it is a challenge, then I lift up my thoughts and focus on my Lord and Savor Jesus the Christ, and the promise, "Lo I am with you always." Knowing that I am not alone in this difficulty helps me . I learned to trust in Him, since I was in difficult times before and have come out of them:" this too shall pass". At time tears, and prayers, have brought back the inner peace that I seek, in order to make it through the day. Counting my blessing also is good way to stay positive. I spend my time focusing on the blessings, and giving thanks for each one .Before I know it I am giving thanks for this challenge, and what I am learning from this most current challenge . . God bless you, Peace be with you .

life can be a hardship sometimes, but you are in control of your own destination, you have two choice, let it eat you alive or you can face it head on. We are on this planet for a short time, make the best of it. Keep smiling, you are the only one that can make it the way you want it. When things look bleak, find something positive out of it. Your still alive is a start.

I don't usually, but I get back up eventually.
I've always taken solace in the beauty of the world overall, and try and place myself and my problem as one small part of that along a continuum. Sometimes it may takes days or weeks to resolve, other times it's years, but eventually life moves on, things change or even out - and meanwhile, I'm still here.

I just realize that tough times are gonna come. Like right now. But I always think that somewhere in the world there is someone worse off than me. Why should i fret over a girl who doesnt love me anymore, when africa is infected with aids, somewhere there is a puppy starving, and my mom misses me. doesnt seem so bad
