The criteria, I believe, are Size of paycheck and Size of Ego. The Star of the Show/Movie.

B-Listers are normally the co-stars and their paychecks are substantially smaller.

A List is top like Tom Cruise B - list would be his wife. No offense but she has done one sitcom where Tom is a "Movie Star". There should be a C-List for people who just do commercials or reality TV. We all have reality TV favs.

Technically no, it's all informal. But I've heard that some restaurants in LA have lists to determine what stars get seating preference.

Just like a report card, what does an "A" mean on a school report card it's the highest grade besides putting a + besides it, so their ranked like a report card, and Hollywood probably has a list that even includes "F" and "F-" I wouldn't be surprised.

Their pay check decides what list they are going to be in.Highly paid & respected? Certainly A list!

It all depends on how famous they are and how much money they make that puts them on the "A" list and "B" list.I'm not sure who puts them on these.But it makes alot of sense.
