I don't like rudeness. Saying hurtful things to others is rude. Telling someone they are 40 lbs overweight is like telling someone they are black.
THEY KNOW.
So it seems to me when someone wants to criticize me, and I react with annoyance, its not insecurity, its a response to an unasked for and an unwelcome opinion.
I ask myself why someone would want to be hurtful, and I take into account whether or not I he/she is just enjoying their pronouncement just a little too much.
Some people just suck and I don't see any reason to coddle them. Used to be a saying, "If you can't say something nice don't say anything at all" Very useful, people should try it.

I don't think so.
I think people generally get mad when you told them that they look older then their age simply because people always want to look younger all the time. Insecurity doesn't count from looking older stuffs. ;)

I think that if anyone gets mad over what someone thinks, they are insecure.

If people tell you that you look older, it could be envy.
And why do you keep company with old women trying to make each other feel bad?

It depends on how they say it, some people just say it and they don't mean anything bad by it, and some they say it purposely to upset u. either way shouldn't get mad, take it you look more "mature" that’s all.

Yep! What other people say is about them. It really has nothing to do with us - or what we know and/or feel about ourselves. If somebody came up to me and said my hair looked red (it doesn't) - I would think "Hmmmmm that's interesting that they think that - but they are wrong" - But if somebody came up to me and said "You look about 40 pounds overweight" - I would feel bad because I know it's true. I AM 40 pounds overweight - and I don't like the fact that I am. If I was okay with my weight - I would say - "oh - that's interesting that you think that" - and go on. Because - what others say and think is REALLY about them - and we get to think whatever we want about ourselves.

Hope that makes sense.
