In a way yes. Take for example letter writing. Most people today use email. So yes the internet has changed the dynamic in regards to personal relationships and one only has to look at the number of online dating services to witness that.
Hopefully having normal personal conversations isn't a dying art, but cyber chat is certainly giving it a run for the money.

there is nothing to prevent you from doing both, go and talk to people, at work, in the local coffee shop, on the bus! Use your phone to call a friend instead of exchanging a dozen texts!
Most people I meet thoroughly enjoy having conversations on all manner of subjects, so I don't think that a bit of cyber chat will interfere with that in the long run.

No, cyber chat is a type of conversation. You may or may not practise it. Maybe nowadays it is more difficult to find the people you can actually have a conversation with. Or maybe it is harder to recognise them among all those global options:).

absolutely..& not even cyber chat everything else in general..you call a number you have to press 9 for more options you go to a drive thru & you can order from the machine...now what the hell happened to actual human to human contact???
