When I was growing up the big scare tactic used by the Marxist environmentalists was the coming Ice Age. As more and more ACTUAL scientific findings could no longer be denied it finally evolved into global warming.
Using the same playbook they have an explanation as to why during the coldest winter in the USA in years that is more than ever confirms global warming. It is not interesting enough propaganda to warrant the memorization.
But I must warn you that you have violated one of the tenants of the religion of liberalism by questioning one of the major tenants of the faith which is blind acceptance of the global warming theory. You are a heretic my friend.
If you do not believe me then get a load of all of the shrill responses to your question.

Global warming is a misleading name - a more accurate one is climate change. Heating the seas WILL change weather patterns, everyone except those in the pockets of the oil buisiness accepts this. Warmer seas will change sea currents (such as the gulf stream) because the seas will get less salty because of all the melted ice that's going into them. This will change the way ocean currents flow. The gulf stream brings warm water from the carribean to western europe, making it temperate, instead of places on a similar lattitude like Siberia and northern Canada. If the Gulf stream stops, then Western Europe will probably get glaciers and permafrost.
Global warming is talking more about a global average - the world will get warmer in general, but parts will get colder, drier, wetter. It's much more complicated than "everywhere gets hot". However, the world will probably not get a noticable amount warmer, even on average. A rise by 4 degress celcius would be pretty catastrophic, because it would mean HUGE areas of the arctics will melt and release their water - imagine how much land is encompassed by a 4 degree climate variation.
People who deny global warming are incredibly ignorant. VERY few serious scientists deny global warming, but there will always be people who do this. Some scientists even deny continental drift, despite there being huge amounts of evidence for it. To be honest, is it going to do us any harm to play it safe and reduce emmisions ANYWAY - if global warming is a myth then at least we'll have less reliance on oil which is INCONTRAVERTABLY running out.

Global Warming affects Earth's weather cycle. That is what causes the unusual warming and cooling of certain places, not just that the planet is getting warmer overall.
Eventually the cycle will break down and throw us into an ice age.

lol...here are how the environmentalist wackos explain this:
the equator heats up, therefore causing air to rise at a very rapid rate at the equator. this in turn pushes hot air towards the poles, and forces cool air from the poles towards the equator.
what they fail to mention is the the trade winds go east and west, not north and south...
btw, if it is cold outside, they blame it on global warming...if it is warm outside, they blame it on global warming...if the temerature remains average, it is somehow global warming.

Because there is no global warming, the libs all say that it's getting colder because the sea level is rising and how that's proof for global warming, but when it gets warmer they point to that as proof for global warming as well.
Which is it?

Global Warming is real and yes we are experiencing it right now. However, GW is also cyclic and we'll be going through a cooling trend in the next 10,000 yrs.
