I just had my processor replaced with exactly the same processor, but the new one is running slightly hotter, how long will it take for the new thermal paste to start working

It works instantly.

Don't be worried by a slight temperature difference. Unless it is running close to the limit just forget it.

It starts immediately!

BUT, did yo peel off the small thermal pad on he heatsink first? we either use the factory thermal pad, (one time use!) or the thermal paste.

Paste is applied SPARINGLY!!! and, it won't work if the the heatsink is crooked and not seated right, or is installed backwards. Many sockets have an elevated step that the heatsink must clear with it's cut away section.

Turn everything off before checking the seating of the heatsink.

Is the fan dragging? Wires touching the blades?

Thermal is suppose to work immediately to protect your processor from heating up.If the new processor is running slightly hotter please try and switch off the system, leave it for a while, remove the processor, clean out the initial thermal and re apply a fresh thermal.-

give it 2 to 8 days to settle in completely before working it's best

it DOES work instantly, but not at it's best performance
you also have to be careful of how much u put on.
don't put on alot or else it will work as the opposite of thermal paste.
the amount put on should be the size of a bb
or just enough to cover the entire cpu with a very thin layer

Instantly!
I suggest removing it and cleaning the CPU. Then spread Artic silver thermal paste on the CPU and re-fit it all.
Good luck!

It will work immediately. I will put into consideration on the CPU fan that you are using.
