After downloading the Norton security software my Microsoft Offfice applications lock up. Bottom left hand shows, requesting virus scan, or something like that. How can I fix this problem. Has this anything to do with the Norton download being only a 16 day trial version?

Microsoft Office has a setting that requests a virus scan every time you open a document, regardless of your anti-virus package (unless your anti-virus cannot provide this protection)

AVG seems to work better with Microsoft than Norton, so I suggest your replace it with AVG and best of all there is no trial period with AVG, because it is completely free.

First, go into the Nortons and there is a section when you can set the time for automatic Norton Scan. If you have to set for 3 am when you are sleeping.

The trial version is the same as the real version. Only difference is the time code set in the versions.

You did not say what version you had. Below are two links, you can check out. Maybe you have not done the latest update for your version, I do not know, but check it out.
