The doctor recommended me to go to a surgeon and let them take a look at it. He felt the lump and is concerned because it isnt showing up in any tests. I go see my regular doctor on tuesday and hopefully she can give me some answers. Thanks to everyone who is giving feedback. Feels like you know more that the darn doctors.

In general, cancerous lumps tend not to be painful (that's why breast cancer can so easily go undiagnosed in women who do not perform self-breast exams or see a doctor regularly). Sounds more like a cyst or some kind in glandular blockage or infection. Odd that something would not show on the mammogram, but if your doctor can feel something there I'm surprised that he's not following up with some other tests to determine the cause. I would definitely recommend getting a second opinion. If you are restricted in your insurance that would make getting a second opinion difficult and the doctor you have been seeing is a general practitioner, think of s reason to se your gynecologist and have them check it out.

Most cancerous lumps are not painful, so that together with nothing showing on either mammogram or ultrasound is a good sign. It could be an infection (especially if you feel pain in the lymph nodes of the arm pit), or a cyst (especially if it coincides with your period), or a fibrocystic condition. But there is still a tiny risk that it is malign, so I agree that you should have a second opinion, at least if it doesn't go away in a couple of weeks. A needle biopsy of the lump is quick and easy and will show if there are cancerous cells in the lump or not.

You bet I have a suggestion, get a second opinion now! Look for a specialist in that field, use the internet, the yellow pages, whatever it takes to find a answer. We have a clinic that specializes in problems with the breasts within 30 minutes of our city, look into facilities in your area. Always remember, as a patient you have a right to a second opinion, it's your body & you have the right to make decisions concerning your health.

You can see another doctor, get a second opinion. If it worries you, this would be a good idea. Be sure to describe the pain as well as the lump.

What did the doctor suggest that you do about it?
If it were me I would go to see a different doctor, and get a second opinion. If it is painful something is wrong.

Having had a mother and sister with breast cancer go to have a mammogram done as soon as possible. It could be a cyst but it never hurts to know for sure.

Could be a swollen Lymph node but I would go see a specialist. If the doc. couldn't give you an answer, you need a better one, it is not something to ignore.

Please, stop trying to self-diagnose and see a health professional. You sound like you suffer more of hypochondria than breast cancer but if you're worried, go have it checked again. It may also be something benign, no necessarily cancer.
