Because she believes only what is convenient for her to believe. Her feminism is more important to her than her relationship with God. I wonder why abortion is OK to these people, yet they will charge you with murder or manslaughter if you cause an unborn child to die, ie; accident etc. In one case it's a blob of nothing, in the other it is a human being. They want it both ways.

Im also a catholic and do not support any type of murder whether its war, death penality or abortion! In behalf of Nancy Pelosi she supports the right to choose. Its what we choose is the problem
If governor chooses to sign a death warrant or the president chooses to goto war and chooses to lie about it. If you are really moral you would know the difference!

I dont know the answer to your question, but really wanted to comment. That is a good question, I have never known a catholic that believed in abortion with the exception of Pelosi and John Kerry if I am remembering correctly. Wasnt Kerry briefly refused communion for his beliefs?

Unfortunately someone can be a misguided “pro-choice” Catholic.

This is especially harmful when they are people of influence like politicians, who because of their influence may unduly direct others toward "the culture of death" instead of the "consistent ethic of life."

Politically supporting abortion is not a offense for which one can be excommunicated.

The Church law involved is Canon 915: Those who are excommunicated or interdicted after the imposition or declaration of the penalty and others who obstinately persist in manifest grave sin are not to be admitted to Holy Communion.

The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops' statement "Catholics in Political Life" says:

Therefore, like every Catholic generation before us, we must be guided by the words of St. Paul, “Whoever, therefore, eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of profaning the Body and Blood of the Lord” (1 Cor 11:27).

And continues that it is up to each Bishop in their diocese and on a case by case basis to decide whether or not to deny Holy Communion to Catholic politicians because of their public support of abortion.

With love in Christ.

The Church and State are separate in the USA.
Her vote is for women to be able to choose.
It has nothing to do with her religion or personal belief. It's not evil...it's politics.
I was raised catholic too. I hate the word "abortion." But that is my belief.... It is also my belief to respect the rights of others in their very personal choice. I don't have to live with their choice or decision. I couldn't. But I will always vote for women's rights and for them to have choices. I am old enough to remember not having choices on many, many levels. Life is better for women now and my vote is to keep it that way.

You know, she may be Catholic, but she also respects the fact that many people are not. If you're against abortion, don't have one. Just don't force that decision on the rest of us, who may not believe that life is created at conception, who may not have the emotional or financial resources to bre pregnant or have a baby (which might not even be the result of consensual sex).

So I say, good for her for not forcing her private beliefs on the public!

With a name like Guiliani, I would guess him to be Catholic.
He is Pro choice. Does that make him a bad Catholic?

Catholics also believe that you shouldn't cheat on your spouse either. But, they don't feel a law needs passed to stop others from doing so.
On earthly matters, Catholics firmly believe in free choice. One must choice to sin or not to sin on their own. Unlike most Christian sects, Catholics don't believe morality can be governed by law. As such, Catholics are tolerant of so-called sinners.
She can be true to her faith by supporting free choice and not opting to have an abortion herself.
