James Blake is a great player and the only thing that would make him worse than other players is because he has never gone far in a grand slam. The 05' and 06' U.S. Open are the best he has done which is making it to the quarterfinals.

Who says James Blake is overrated! The best thing about tennis is you don't win on luck! You achieve a NUMBER 5 ranking in the world because of how good you play..................PERIOD!
To be No.5 in the world in tennis is no small feat and should be given sufficient press!...especially after someone else has already posted....He was all but crippled two years ago!
Now you may not like all the press he gets but hey lets face it...He is a very good looking guy......He can play and plays a big exciting game....He is an American....He is a person of Color....And he has this Great comeback story...And he gives the rest of the tennis world and its players respect!
I'd write about him too!
Give Blake some props!
Whats that sayin' "Don't hate me cus I'm beautiful"!

People talk about the flamboyant players in any sport and suddenly mediocre becomes the new hero. As long as purists like you get the fact that he will never be more than a talking head, then the game is safe. But as long as he brings in the money - the team owners don't care about winning or losing, just the bottom line.

maybe cos he recovered from a really bad accident and even challenged federer to 4 sets at the US open.also he is american and the americans are dying for a grand slam champ(i suppose so cos it seems that way) so they want to overrate any american player as a champ.

I don't think he's overrated. I don't hear them talk about him too much. If anything they seem to can't stop talking about Roger and the fact that Andy Roddick has a new coach

He's not the best player around today, but I certainly don't think he's just mediocre......he wouldn't be in the top 10 rankings if he was.

He's #5...how is that overrated? Clearly he can back most anything up with his play, I don't get how he is mediocre. Grandslam results? Please, there's more to it than that.

he is number 5 in the world, and is given appropriate press. also, because HE BROKE HIS NECK only 2 and a half years ago, and had facial paralysis, he has done exceptionally well, and people like to see him do well.
