I highly suggest a eyeliner pencil. You do not want to get a cheap one: spend the money on one that will glide on.
Application is much easier- apply to above the eyelash line on your lids all the way across. Under your eye apply on the rim of the eye. Do not go all the way across as to "close" your eye- looks better to take across to a 1/2 or a 1/3 of the way starting from the outer edge.
Never pull on the skin around your eyes to apply eyeliner or mascara- it will cause the skin to eventually wrinkle--- and I KNOW you don't want that!

Most liquid liners these days have a pointed tip for application. It is tough to get a perfect line and takes some practice but the most important thing is getting it as close to your lash line as possible. I have found that if I put the applicator tip along the actual lash line instead of aiming for the eyelid, it goes on right where it's supposed to and gives you the Audrey Hepburn look you may or may not be going for. Once you get the basic line established, use a cue tip or your fingers to clean up the top of the line so you either have a smudged smokey look or your line is even all the way across. Hope this helps. Remember, it won't be perfect until you have done it a while and are practiced so cleanup is critical. Someone recommended doing eyeshadow and mascara before eyeliner and I would disagree completely. Eyeliner is first (following your foundation).

You have to make sure, you'll buy hypoallergenic eyeliner, like " Physician Formula" from Wall mart or drug stores. Always sharpen your pencil before each use so it's nice and clean. You can also buy eye shadow primer, apply to your eye lids, brush some powder or shadow and then draw the line or dot it along the lash line. Take angle brush and blend the line. For softer line and smoke look try dark eye shadow instead. Hope this will help, good luck!

oka okay , listen carfuly, you don't put the eyeliner , onyour skin, you actullyput it, on the white line, up above the eyelashes, (forget the top lashes , i'm talking aboutthe bottem lahes.so you put eyeliner thier, and but those bottles that have a cap , tha's looks like a witches cap , the long cap kind, and it has a small bottle with it.

that website will show you , go to the third colum, and then go ot the third picture, and then click it, and look at the second bottle from the left.get those kind of bottles.
now then , when putting eyeliner, ,take oyur finger ,and pull down your skin , so you can see your whitle liner, up above your bottem lashes, and then just make one thin line on it, and then let the finger go, and take a sec. it wait, so you won't make tears from your eyes, keeping doing this until you get that thin line, i know it takes forever but it is worth it.

I know applying liquid eyeliner could be hard, but it's really crucial to stay stable while applying it. And I'm sure it happens to a lot of other people. You can draw the line from the center of your eyelid then outward. And then draw a line from the inner corner of your eye to the center (connect the lines). And I'm sure CoverGirl , L'oreal Paris, Maybelline, or Almay would work OK.

The same thing happens to me with liquid eyeliner! But now I use CoverGirl liquid eyeliner pen.....it's awesome it dries super fast so it doesn't get in my eye (isn't it so gross when it gets in your eye? I hate that!!) But also hold the rim of your eye out for a few seconds or even fan it a bit to make it dry.

If you are going to use liquid eyeliner you need to put it underneath your eyelashes. That is why pencil is better. If you have a steady hand and take your time a pensil will not do this to your eye.

go to maybelline.com... and go to the how-to section. They have videos and a list of tips to help apply everything from foundation, to blush, to eyeliner. Seeing someone do it can be really helpful to learning how to apply it correctly
