Toothpaste! Works like a charm. Just wet your fingers and apply toothpaste to the chain and rub gently. I think you will want to use a paste instead of a gel.

For chains, it is best to use silver cleaner. I buy mine at wal-mart in the jewelry department. It comes in a silver container for around four dollars. You dip the chain in and it will remove the tarnish. Do not leave it in the cleaner or it could ruin the chain. If it is not real silver, it will not make it shiny again.

You can go to any jewellers and buy a tub of silver cleaning liquid. You just place your bracelet in the container inside, leave for a few minutes then rinse and dry. Really easy to do and no hard work involved.
