Hell no, half the planet is waiting impatiently for the next books (me included), and the other half is composed of:
-people who can't read
-people who live in a cave or on a desert island
-people who won't admit they like Harry Portter but probably know every single plot twist
-people who genuinly don't like Harry Potter ('bout 0.00001% of world population)
So if you're a geek i guess that makes a few billion geeks on earth.

If that makes you a geek, then I'm a geek. When will she get that book out!!! She better not kill off Harry, Ron, or Hermione. The Harry Potter series is just good stuff. What is a geek anyway? Hmmmm might be a good question. think I'll go check.

You're not a geek at all, trust me.
I know a lot of people who are crazy about HP and they are over 40 years old, some of them are really old. They have responsibilities and a social status to maintain, and they still enjoy HP.
You can never be a geek just because of your interests. Everyone has weird hobbies. Plus, you shouldn't even be using the 'term' geek seeing as it is only a stereotype.
Stop thinking about what people think of you, geez.

I must first say your a very young looking 36! Those sunglasses are cool too. I am guessing your either a parent or aunt/uncle and got caught up in the hype through the child. Its natural, I think, to want to be a part of your childs life and dive into whatever it is they are into for that time. I went through this with my daughter and Spongebob Squarepants myself. Enjoy it because they grow up fast, and soon all you'll be is a drive to the mall or skating rink.

You're definitely not a geek. But honey, at our age (I'm 35, so I'm right behind ya!), who the heck cares if people think we're geeks or not? Leave that kind of insecurity for the 20-somethings and teenagers. We are WOMEN, hear us roar! ;-)

Why should you necessarily be a geek for liking movies such as Harry Potter? My parents saw all the Harry Potter movies with me, does that make them geeks?

No - you have good taste and you're in good company. The line between children's/adult books can be arbitrary. In fact, the book is so popular with adults in Great Britain that they have an adult edition with different cover art (but the same story.) Especially for adults who feel a bit self-conscious carrying around a "children's" book. Check it out on amazon.uk:
