I liked "Bias" better though both were good. If you did not know that there was bias in the media you would after reading this book. The liberal slant of the news is more apparent now than it ever was before. If it weren't for FOX I do not think I would watch the news at all. At least on FOX the opinion shows are just that and the news is separate. Unlike the other networks where they say they are giving you the news when it is their opinions you are hearing. You and I will now be blasted for not believing that FOX is terrible and the rest of the networks are great. What did you think of these books

Both, ironically, were based on his own bias and some personal bitterness towards CBS.

Logically, both are strewn with hypocrisy and double-standards (or perhaps lack of objective standards).

Here's what Publisher's Weekly said about Arrogance -

"His analysis...is not without its persuasive qualities, though undermined by rather obvious deck-stacking, condescension toward opposing viewpoints and intermittent outrageousness."

The problem is that there has been a well-funded propaganda campaign for the last 40 to 50 years to try and undermine the credibility of the news media and to destroy the objective standards that were developed in the early 1900s. The premise is very much the flawed "if you're not with us, you're against us." Arguing that EVERYONE is biased somehow, someone with a liberal bias is correctly labeled biased. Someone objective, since they don't have a conservative bias, is labeled biased. Someone with a conservative bias is considered "fair" because, well, they have to be - just look at all those other biased people they have to counter-balance!!

Therefore, the conservative bias is somehow okay and justified, and all viewpoints not conservatively biased are somehow unfairly skewed.

Bernie Goldberg is a brilliant writer. "Arrogance" and "Bias" are both cool, but I loved "100 People Who Are Screwing Up America (And Al Franken Is #37)"
