can someone teach me...i have looked up reference book's but they give me the examples which i already know...this question is a bit different....

General Form

6n - 5 = 3n²

6n - 5 -6n = 3n² - 6n

- 5 = 3n² - 6n

- 5 + 5 = 3n² - 6n + 5

0 = 3n² - 6n + 5

You have: 6n - 5 = 3n^2 - 2

First: you need to know how the General Form is written >
"Ax + By - C = 0"

Sec: set the equation to "0" > subtract 3n^2 from both sides...

6n - 5 - 3n^2 = 3n^2 - 3n^2 - 2

6n - 5 - 3n^2 = - 2

*Add "2" to both sides...

6n - 5 - 3n^2 + 2 = - 2 + 2

6n - 5 - 3n^2 + 2 = 0

*Write the equation in alpha descending order - the "n" variables come first....

- 3n^2 + 6n - 5 + 2 = 0

- 3n^2 + 6n - 3 = 0

Third: the first coefficient can't be negative > change every sign...

3n^2 - 6n + 3 = 0

P.S. You don't need to solve for "n" because the problem doesn't ask you to solve for the variable.

If you're solving for n, just subtract 6n and add 5 from both sides:
3n^2-6n+3=0

Factor out a 3:
n^2-2n+1=0

(n-1)(n-1)=0
(n-1)^2=0
n=1

6n-5=3n^2-2
(minus both sides by 6n-5)
0=3n^2-6n+3
rearrange:
3n^2-6n+3=0
(all divided by 3)
n^2-2n+1=0
(use the formula: (a-b)^2=a^2-2ab+b^2)
(n-1)^2=0
n-1=0
n=1

whaqt you need to do is the same to both sides...
6n-5 = 3n-2 take 3n
3n-5 = -2 add 5
3n = 3 divide by 3
n = 1

answer, n=1

arrange it like this

3n^2-2+5-6n=0

3n^2-6n+3=0

take 3 out

n^2-2n+1=0

(n-1)^2=0

n=1

two equal roots
