These are some of the dumbest answers I've ever heard, obviously showing the ignorance of the American people. The flag is supposed to be flown at half-mast for thirty days after the death of a former President, and most of you haven't an idea. No wonder the Country is going to hell.

From what I understand from talking to people, people in general think it just gets depressing and redundent to keep lowering the flag all the time. A lot of people think it also shows a lack of respect for all the well-known and much loved people who have contributed a great deal to this country and have not had any flags lowered for them. People look at the flag being lowered every time a government official dies, and think, what's wrong with this picture? The government is going to tax people to death, and pretty much refuse to help people find adequate living wages and then wonder why so many folks and businesses refuse to lower the US flag to half-mast. People consider that also, and that adds credibility to their question, what's wrong with this picture? That's some of the things people are saying anyway. Don't go killing the messenger. I think a lot of people also just consider it a government issue if they want to lower the flag to honor the passing of a government official. It doesn't apply to nongovernment entities. It is a matter of etiquette, not enforced by law or fines.

Flags are coloured rags.

If a country's existence is threatened by someone refusing to change their flag's height or by burning a flag, then that country doesn't deserve to exist.

If you can desecrate your country's flag, it's a sign of your freedom.

They just do not know any better-that this is the way to show respect. Or, they just do not care.

Do you have some sort of proof of this or is this just your "unbiased" opinion?
