hi,,
its my own reasons.. so may be there is more logical reason behind that!

first thing is colours can play a very important role in life. so if you draw a beatiful rangoli infront of the house, it could impact the out look of your house. it could even benefit the person looking at it by means of transforming thier mind set to a plasent state. logically if only when drawn infront of the house these things can happen.

Rangoli traditionally are made by joining many dots in various designs and are then decorated with colourful rice powder. The dots in the Rangoli symbolize the challenges we will face in life. We must patiently and bravely face these challenges to lead a life beautifully like Rangoli.

A colourful design called a Rangoli is made near the entrance to a house to welcome guests. Traditionally they are painted or created out of coloured sand/rice powder. A symmetrical design or picture (Gods, Goddess, Dancers, Diwas etc.) is drawn and coloured rice powder/sand is then layered on top to form a picture.

A symmetrical design like the one opposite can be drawn on paper or card and then decorated by children with crumpled tissue paper. Also sand could be used, mixed with paint or coloured with food colourings. (mix sand with water coloured with food colourant, pour off excess and leave to dry in a warm place). Chalk could also be used to draw a Rangoli directly on to paving stones in a secure outside area.

In a traditional Hindi household, the lady of the house starts her daily chores with purifying herself, drawing some Rangoli lines in front of the pooja room and the tulsi. Her regular routine begins after this ritual. With this, her entire day remains fresh and lively.

Rangoli is a traditional Indian art form often associated with Diwali. A Rangoli is a brightly coloured design created using different materials such as coloured powders, seeds and grains, flower petals, pencils, pens and paint.

In the Ramayana story the citizens welcome Rama back from his fourteen-year exile in the forest by painting Rangoli designs outside their homes. Hindu families continue to honour this tradition today. In India some people get up very early in the morning to create a Rangoli. Later it is swept away and a new picture is painted each day of the festival. Rangoli designs are both decorative and symbolise a warm welcome and good luck.

Candles and lamps are also placed outside the home in the hope that Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth and prosperity, will visit and bring good fortune and blessings to the family.

Rangoli designs vary from simple geometric patterns to highly intricate images. Everyone can appreciate the beauty of this art form and have a go at creating a Rangoli design.

People draw rangoli out of their houses to keep away evil forces and negative vibes from their house. This is also done to ensure that all positive energy along with the blessings of Goddess Lakshmi enters the house.
