I've always liked what some existentialists have suggested: if you think life is "meaningless", then stop whining and create your OWN meaning.
Let's face it - there's no way anyone can ever be absolutely sure that life has any meaning or purpose. It's simply not a question that reason/logic can answer. But you can choose what you want to believe, based on your own experience, intuition and need.
Why then, would you want to believe that your life means nothing when you can MAKE it mean something?
Personally. I found that believing we're all connected, that we're all a part of one another, works for me. When we help someone else, we also help ourselves, and when we hurt others, it's ourselves we hurt as well.
Moreover, this isn't JUST a matter of "belief", for I've had it proven to me time and time again.
Let's just say it's a belief grounded in experience - and it's given meaning to my life.
I'll leave the question of whether there's a "hereafter" to others; if there is, fine; if not, well, at least I'll leave this life feeling that it hasn't all been a waste.
Not a waste at all.

Well, to answer your first question, if life is meaningless then we should do whatever we want. Your second question itself is null if your basic assumption is that life is meaningless because accomplishing your goals would be a waste of time if life itself is without meaning. Your third question seems to contradict the basic premise of your first question, that life is already proven meaningless, and if life has been proven meaningless then of course nothing matters. Your fourth question brings up the question of constructed meaning, which is of course meaningless if life has no meaning but helps someone who realizes the meaninglessness of life but cannot accept it to cope. And finally, your fifth question implies that there is fire within the vacuum, as though meaning could be behind meaninglessness. If there is no purpose then there cannot be purpose behind the purpose can there? Of course not, but there can be an illusion, an imaginary fire in the vacuum, and the advantage of an imaginary meaning to life is that it can be whatever you want it to be and is not given to you by anyone else. This can be much more fulfilling than any supposed meaning given to you by someone else, right. I find that thought much more comforting than the thought that there is an actual purpose to our existence.

Life? Seriously, we live it, and things are like this. We don't live it, things will be different for others. Would you sacrifice yourself for the greater good? Because if you lived on in this world, many others would feel there was a meaning to live.
You bring meaning to people. And so would others bring you meaning one day. The meaning could be found almost everywhere, and anywhere. And it will come one day.
No, it's not about just attaining your goals, it's not just about dreams and such. This are only part of our lives, that leads to the day we rest. It provides challenges in our lives that makes it interesting, but no it's not the reason why we should live.
We should live because:
1. GOD made you ( or your Mum )
2. You hurt others by dying
3. ?
4. ?
I don't have the answers why you should live. Just know that we all do live to die in the end. But what we do with this life, is within our control, and what meaning we want in this life, is ours to put.

We changed the term of victory. The new term was that the U.S. would train South Vietnam's troops and leave South Vietnam to defend itself. This worked for three years after the U.S. military left. South Vietnam's government was so corrupt and hated by the Vietnamese (hence the reason why there was a civil war in the first place) that South Vietnam's government collapsed. The reason why the U.S. backed South Vietnam was faulty intelligence and the "Red Scare." In hind sight, if the U.S. was to back North Vietnam in the first place, the chance would have been very good that North Vietnam would not have turned to the Communists for help and Vietnam would have been a capitalist Republic. Vietnam could have been an ally against the Chinese communists. It did help the U.S. military fight the modern war. Useful helicopters (some of which are still used), the F-16, the laser guided rockets and bombs, the rose cutter bomb, increased medical technology etc. were invented because of the Vietnam experience.

If life is meaningless then you have no reason to live. That makes you a meatsack.
You need something to believe in. In most cases people choose a religion while others persue science. Others find meaning in a goal.
I remember a quote that goes something like this: "Lucky are those who have impossible dreams for those who have achieved theirs have nothing to strive and live for."
So if life is meaningless then you need to find a meaning. Give yourself a goal, find yourself a religion or find yourself a sponsor become an F1 driver.
So yeah you need to find your own individual meaning. Personally I live to find a meaning for I do not have one as yet.
PS. Do not mistake spiritual belief as the alpha and omega. It is just an offroad on the highway of life.

I don't know the meaning of life for sure but I think that the whole point of life is to know what it was all for, in the end. I think we will have accomplished our mission if we find out the eternal truth in the end. And the thing aout not getting anywhere isn't true at all because it does'nt matter what you do at all since in the end u will be ale to find out the truth so reading every piece of literature ever written about the meaning of life will put in a position to know the truth just as much as sitting down and doing nothing and "wasting" ur life away. However there is this common myth among humans that the more u work the more u get so u really have to believe in my philosophy to know the truth. most people don't allow goood things to come to them if they don't toil and labour for it. they think that they are not deserving of it.

It's up to you, there's no should about it. What should a monkey do? If he walks away from the tribe is he a "bad" monkey? It's all meaningless. if you find some meaning, that's great. It's still meaningless.

You are the only one who can give meaning to your life. What's important, is what we leave behind, for we will all go the way of the dodo.
If you chose your legacy to be one of the millions of "worker ants" that live and die without ever distinguishing themselves, then go for it. However, if you want to be and do something different, that takes moral fiber.
How much do you have?
