In Tort Law, it was barely mentioned for our state. It is included for the fact that it is a law in some states. Tort law is civil, not criminal, wrongdoings. In order to establish a case basis, one's basis must include the following elements for:
Alienation of Affection
i. Intent to diminish the material relationship between spouses
ii. Affirmative conduct
iii. Affections between spouses are in fact alienated
iv. Causation [suit is filed]
Enticement of Spouse
i. Intent to diminish the marital relationship between the spouses
ii. Affirmative conduct by the defendant [the trouble maker]
a. to entice or encourage the spouse to leave the plaintiff's [upset spouse's] home or
b. to harbor the spouse and encourage him or her to stay away from the plaintiff's home
iii. The spouse leaves the plaintiff's home
iv. Causation
Intentional Infliction of Emotional Distress
i. An act of extreme or outrageous conduct
ii. Intent to cause severe emotional distress
iii. Severe emotional distress is suffered [psychiatrist said so]
iv. Causation
So...I suppose that if one would like to have available to them the legal remedy for infidelity, one should live in Michigan. Personally, it would improve the moral and ethical well-being of the nation if it was applicable in every state. Those vows are a form of spoken (oral) contract before witnesses. It is sad that so many people have difficulty honoring their word and keeping their vows.
NOTE: Personal comments are inserted within brackets [ ... ] to aid understanding of the legal terminology.

I do live in Michigan and the law has always been there just never enforced and I doubt it ever will be.
Society just is too casual with adultery these days. If they put punished every adultress then there would be thousands if not millions of people in trouble every day in the court rooms.

Heck no. But if I'm going to jail anyway may as well kill her. It may be cheaper to keep her, but killing her is free.
