I like many others am fed-up with being censored over some innocuous question or comment by people who live in such a feather-bedded world they have to find offence in anything. However, unlike these examples, I agree that denying the Holocaust should not be a crime as the sort of people who do are not to be taken seriously and criminalising it would mean they were being taken seriously. But I believe censorship should exist in other ways - obviously you have to look at your audience and you wouldn't wish a ten year old to see a picture of a particularly nasty corpse and mostly, by publicising 'Happy Slapping' the media did us all a disservice by advertising this particularly nasty pastime to particularly nasty kids all over, just in order to get more news stories out of it. This is really a general question about censorship and would like your views. I also think that rather than a question is removed without trial just because someone doesn't like it, it should be put to the vote.

People do not have the right to not be offended. If they are offended, they have the right to leave!

I'm not even sure what you are asking!
Censorship exists, we need to accept that, it exists in all walks of life and media. The important issue is who decides what is and isn't censured.
As an adult I like to think that I can make my own decisions on any subject and that I should not be subjected to any form of censorship, but thats a dream world.
I accept that children need to have their reading/viewing/hearing censored, there is too much that may come their way that will do them no good, and indeed may harm them.
A healthy debate about censorship is a good thing.
The final part about removing a question baffles me a little. If you had a question removed because it was against the TOS then that is not censorship, if it was removed because it was against the law then again that is not censorship. If as you imply it was simply removed because someone didn't like it then thats wrong

There is a difference between freedom of artistic exoression (which should not have limits put on it) and free speech (which has to operate within the limits prescribed by laws about racial hatred, incitement to violence etc.)
The difference is created by the critical distance that a work of drama can create between the author's message and what the character is saying. eg in the long-running British TV series Till Death Do Us Part about a working-class racist, Alf Garnett, when Warren Mitchell (playing Alf) launches into one of Alf's ignorant tirades, it is clear that neither Warren Mitchell nor the writer Johnny Speight supports what Alf Garnett is saying, they are laughing at his ignorance.
But put similar words in the mouth of Nick Griffin, the BNP leader or similar far-right politician, speaking at a political meeting and if they infringe the law, they need to be censored and the speaker prosecuted.
There is all the difference in the world between a character in a play arguing a case, written for comic effect and a politician arguing it for real.

I think that the y/a people are a little "censor happy" but it seems to be without rhyme or reason. I got censored for pointing out an obvious pedophile trolling for kids. His question (along with his "contact me!" information) was left on...but my "answer" that cautioned children that he wasn't what he seemed was removed. This was the one and only activity ever on that particular account and I'm sure he created another to attempt to lure children the very next day. It's just crazy sometimes.

Censorship is not the answer. Somehow reaching people to consider others before speaking, to appeal to their sense of decency is what needs to be addressed.
Example: I have a right to say "Almost" anything to anyone. But I also have the right to think about how it will effect the other person or people and so chose not to say what is on my mind. A great quote i read(don't remember by whom) we should never miss a chance to keep our mouth shut.
Another is:
Proverbs 10:19
In the multitude of words sin is not lacking, But he who restrains his lips is wise.
As for the news, the best way to get them to change is by not watching them. If we don't demand (by watching) they will have to change the supply(content) to gain the advertising dollars.

Repeated from elsewhere here: There is no censorship, if a company is policing it's own website. (See ToS)
Censorship is something a government entity does. Not a private company.

You can have a comment removed just because the asker doesn't like your answer. If your answer is offensive to them they will report you. Sometimes the asker can't take the truth and he/she is embarrased to the point of having your answer removed.
