typically Churches were white washed and all the decoration was done away with .clothing was plain black and white with no frills. alcohol was banned . basically it is what it sounds pure and basic.Led by Oliver Cromwell seen as a holy mission once won as with most things like this it was riddled with back stabbing and crumbled when Cromwell died in 1658 into disaray
