mesh top with glass sliding doors,a royal python will be living in it,i need to know the best kind of light and heat(mat)considering the fact that heat travels through metal.

grow lights r good but you got to watch out for the snake ,dont get burned and burn on a snake is a bad thin it gets infected ,hard to take care of

For a royal python your best to get a ZooMed bulb which dont get hot and provide the correct amount of vitamins for the snake. Get the 3.5 which is good for snakes. A heat mat for about a quarter of the floor is also required.

Glass transmits heat too so pick a lamp or mat designed for reptiles. See petsolutions.com,petsmart.com, petco.com or petwarehouse.com for choices on mats lights or heated rocks. Pythons need room so a large container is important and large enough so the critter can find a spot with his/her temperature.
