If I were going to die in 5 minutes and I had the button that could destroy the world at my fingertips, I certainly wouldn't press the little red button. Why ? Because I think about the others who will survive after me. If I haven't got the chance to stay alive and do all that I have always dream to do, many other people would be lucky to make their dreams come true and maybe mine too. Moreover, death is part of the life... we'll all die one day ! ... the farthest is better but who knows what will comes tomorrow.
Seriously, I think that if I were going to die in 5 minutes I would write my memories so that someone could know me better and, who knows, would realise my own dreams.

I think there is more to this question than meets the eye. When we die and cross over, the world does INDEED end for us. It is not destroyed, but our link to it is. Since our consciousness can only conceive of our own link to the planet, when that link is destroyed the world seems to end. Funerals are given for the living (so they can grieve), not for the dead. According to the multiverse theory, different funerals are going on for the same person along different time lines (on different versions of Earth). That makes funerals confusing, if not downright perplexing to the dead. Which one applies to them, after all? Once the link is broken, the connection is no longer is sustained in the same fashion.Living here on Earth is quite different from being dead. Perhaps the "destruction of the world" idea is part of a wake up call to alert people to the fact that they are indeed dead. The destruction of the world would be an absolute, but only for that person. It might seem as if other people died too, but that is a misnomer. Only the dying person's perception of those other people died. The person's perception of planet Earth would also die, hence the "destruction of the Earth". Our perception of planet Earth is maintained partially by our presence here, and by our bodies. When our bodies are gone, that maintanance becomes impossible. Thus, the "destruction of the Earth" is mainly about the perception of our bodies dying as we become a spiritual entity.

No I wouldn't press it, I would destroy the damned button within two minutes. This would leave me with the satisfaction for the rest of my life that.... the damned button isn't going to get into the hands of a fool full of hatred and fear. This will allow fools all about the world to live in their own folly; while giving the loving and wise the lives they deserve as well.

No, I'm a nice girl. My finger wouldn't even hover, not even a little bit, not even be tempted, wouldn't even grit my teeth to stop my finger, Arrrrrrrrrg........
Got you all guessing now. Oh, I'm a tease!
Seriously,
No, really, I think the world is a beautiful place. Within that world, we make our own world, and have the ability to shape our journey through life and make the world a better place.
Many people are working to that end right now, and against all odds. I'm sure they will win in the end. It's up to us to help them...

I would never push the button to destroy this planet.

Yes I would, I'd play a mind game with people for about the last 4 minutes of my life and right before the five minutes were up I'd pretend to be dead jump up and say see you later dudes... press the button and die before the world would end... that would be AWESOME.

I wrote a novel/drama about this, and the hero considers and he eventually push the button. Why would someone NOT push the button? Without us, the world is not the same, and this world was saved so many times and it is terrible. So it would be wise to try the other oppurtunity.

How depressing a life you must have. Why would you want to kill everyone else because you are gonna leave this rock we all call home. You must be a bitter, miserable excuse for a human being to keep thoughts like that in your head. Try helping someone else and believe that they will do the same, etc, and your gift to the world just made you eternal

I would send a threat to the world's super powers and demand that money (I'm talking billions!) be sent to various charities. I would bluff and threaten all i could, however, i would be unable to press the button. I may be able to put somebody else i deem worthy in that position of power, perhaps.

Why would you wanna destroy the world?? If you want to make others suffer, leave the button alone. They will suffer more in this world. If you want to ease people's suffering, leave the button alone too. They will ease it themselves sooner or later. I wont press the button
