If your answer is no. how to get girls parents together to make this decision in their own interest & girls interest and stop the menace of dowry and dowry deaths/related harassment.
Do you think it will work for others – I personally feel it will. You are at liberty to disagree with me and if so tell me why you think so.
If you agree with me talk to parents and get this society rid of dowry and its associated ills.
My experiment:

I carried on a life long experiment with my own daughters and nephew and nice.
I made them understand the value of dignity of labour and allowed them to do all their works including washing their cloths dishes etc. Treated all of them equally. Gave them yearly budgets and gave them this money as 12 monthly installments to mage their financial affairs. The aim is to build self confidence that they can manage.

OK, now first tell me how will you define DOWRY? Giving clothes & ornaments to your daughter is not dowry. OK, giving wedding dress & ring, chain to your son in law is not dowry. OK, how about dress & ornaments to his parents, brothers & sisters? Ok how about giving dress & ornaments to his other relative’s maternal/paternal uncles & aunts? Giving daily house hold items such as beddings, TV, utensils, etc etc? Arranging big reception for the bratis & spending Lakhs of rupees on it? And best thing when your own daughter wants all this to be done then who will you blame????? Many females in this forum are giving reply to this question I ask them why you young girls want all these to be done on your wedding if you talk against DOWRY, why you insist for religious marriages when legally you can be married under the Special Marriage Act,1954 before a marriage officer for mere Rs90/- only whereas getting married even in Arya Samaj Mandir cost minimum of Rs5100/-?????? Give me reply to this question then talk boldly here. I am a father who got his daughter married recently & spent lakhs of rupees just to satisfy her ego & mind you not her husbands nor her in laws ego. OK.

My answer is NO to the above question. In the worst case 75 percent of marriages will be delayed and rest 25 percent of marriages woul take place as per time. The refusing of girls parents to pay dowry should continue for decades and decades, then only change would definitely come and the 25 percent figure would rise to 100 percent.

I have always failed to understand dowry. What is a parents or a girls fault, if a female was born? Hindu's worship Lakmi ma as goddess of wealth. It is said if a woman is not respected then Laksmi ma will not bless that person/family. Then, why does dowry exist?

Females of marriageable age should take a firm stand about not marrying into a family asking for dowry. I am sure she will find someone who will marry her for her.

And what a bunch of losers who expect money from the wife. Cant he afford to support her, and get all the luxuries with his own capability/money? He needs a woman's money to get that. In that case, the woman is stronger and can survive in the world without that loser.

No way.out of lakhs of marriages taking place in india only maybe hundreds have dowry related problems and for them why spoil the name of our own country? If you want to get rid of these dowry related problems you need to reach out to the rural areas and explain them the importance of not accepting the demands of the bridegroom.and i am sorry to say sir but we need to go out of our families and educate the rural masses.you have not done anything gr8 by only working for your family working for the illiterate population of india is more important.
sorry if i have been rude

a very gud effort frm ur side............. i think it is not only the guls parents but even boys parents, shud hav sum awareness, i think most of the youth today are willing to stand up against dowry, bt their parents are forcing them to giv or take dowry.
the situation in india is like............if a gul refuses to giv dowry, no inlaws wil accept her
if a boy refuses to take dowry, they think otherwise that the boy may have sum disease or sum thing for which he wants to go for a compromise.
so its really difficult...........

How good your thoughts are! I am impressed that kuchh insaan hain jo apni dignity ke liye itne acche kadam utha sakte hain.Mere khyal se aaj upper class chhod ke baaki saare log dowry dete hain. For example:-Meri mummy hamare bhai ki shaadi mein koi dowry nahin lengi par hamari badi didi ki shaadi mein dowry di gayi thi. Aisa kabhi nahi ho sakta ki India ke saare parents dowry dena band kar denge kyunki aajkal parents dowry dowry ke roop mein nahi dete balki yah keh ke dete hain ki ye paise ya samman ham apni beti ko de rahe hai lekin iske pichhe kahin na kahin dowry hi hoti hai. YE EK SACH HAI, JISE KOI FACTS/FIGURES GALAT SAABIT NAHIN KAR SAKTE.Please thin about it.......
