Believe it or not, those little white bugs you see swimming or crawling around your aquarium aren't really bad. As a matter of fact, most experienced reef aquarists look at them as a good sign that they have a healthy tank. Learn about copepod and amphipod facts, what marine species will eat them, how to add them to a saltwater aquarium as a food source, as well as control or remove them if they are taking over becoming pests.

Get a bag of sea salt, from the pet shop, put about 2 tablespoons in some hot water (about a cup or 2 cups) to dissolve it. When dissolved, put it in the water and swirl it around. Do it daily until this pest disappears. Get yourself some Bristle Noses, they'll clean the inside of your tank. It is a pest, it possibly came from some rocks or gravel you got, doesn't matter how long you've had the gravel, the bugs have just got a hold, the salt will get rid of it. Also doesn't matter if your tank is freshwater, that little bit of salt every day won't hurt your fish.

This could be an infestation from aphids which are plant lice. Do you by any chance have house plants near your aquarium?
I would use a clean damp rag to wipe away the insects on the hood and tank edges or wherever they crawl. Also using a small holed net, keep swishing the net over the water surface to catch as many of these critters as you can. Do this daily, and sooner or later you will have the removed.

I think Color-pink answered it best. It especially happens after your tank is properly cycled and everything is going smooth. I had these tiny white wormlike things on the inside walls of the tank wiggling around. They were a few millimeters each and really disturbing looking. When I got my angel fish they ate all the worms up and they looked like they enjoyed it. Dont worry about them they are good fish food and even some fish live solely off these bugs.

I agree with most of the rest. Clean up the outside of the tank. Just make sure not to get any of the cleaner in the water. It is toxic to fish.

It's mites. The outside of the tank must be dirty in some way (sorry ). I doubt they will get at the fish. Wipe and disinfect the tank.... though to thoroughly make sure you may need to empty the tank and completely sterilise it.

O dear - better scoop the fish into a big bowl or something and clean out the tank! Maybe you should get advice before refilling it. The fish may be infected.
