"A hero is an ordinary person, who finds himself in less than ordinary situations and acts in an extraordinary manner."
I don't remember who told me that, but it is something that I carry with me.

James Lane Allen once wrote. “You cannot escape the results of your thoughts. Whatever your present environment may be, you will fall, remain or rise with your thoughts, your visions, your ideal.
You will become as small as your controlling desire and as great as your dominant aspiration.”

It's kind of cheezy, but a line from a Clint Eastwood movie...(um.."Heartbreak Ridge")...."Improvise, overcome, adapt!" has always held meaning for me. I know too many people who give up at the slightest resistance, and it's really easy to follow suit, but that line reminds me that my perserverence is stronger than the blocks I run into.

Dr. Martin Luther King's "I Have a Dream" speech.
Not only for it's content, but for its delivery, as well.
I still cry whenever I hear it.
